The SPE Foundation offers numerous scholarships to students who have demonstrated or expressed an interest in the plastics industry.

They must be majoring in or taking courses that would be beneficial to a career in the plastics industry. This would include, but is not limited to, plastics engineering, polymer science, chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, and industrial engineering.

All applicants must be in good standing with their colleges. Financial need is considered for most scholarships.

General Scholarships
Undergraduate and graduate scholarships range up to $4,000 annually. Scholarships are awarded for one year only, but applicants may apply for re-award for up to three additional years.
  • Composites Division / Harold Giles Scholarship
  • Robert E. Cramer / Product Design & Development Division / Mid-Michigan Section Scholarship
  • Robert G. Dailey / Detroit Section Scholarship
  • Ted and Ruth Neward Scholarships
  • Polymer Modifiers & Additives Division Scholarships
  • Thermoplastic Materials & Foams Division Scholarship
  • Vinyl Plastics Division Scholarship
Special Scholarships
The following special scholarships require specific information or background and must be applied for separately.
  • Blow Molding Division Memorial Scholarships (in memory of Carrie Fox Solin and John Raymond
    Applicants must be completing the second year of a 4-year undergraduate plastics engineering program
  • Extrusion Division / Lew Erwin Memorial Scholarship
    Applicants must be working on a Senior or MS project which the scholarship will help support. The project must be described in writing, including background, objective, and proposed experiments.
  • Fleming / Blaszcak Scholarship - Applicants for this award must be of Mexican descent and citizens or legal residents of the United States.
  • Gulf Coast Hurricane Scholarships
  • Thermoforming Division Memorial Scholarship - Applicants must have experience in the thermoforming industry.
  • Thermoset Division / James I. MacKenzie Memorial Scholarship
    Applicants must have experience in the thermoset industry, such as courses taken, research conducted or jobs held.
